You cannot access the USA Dance LA Subgroup without being logged in with a valid user account and subscribed as a member of this group. You basically need to register for an account on the Central Avenue Dance Ensemble website and then request subscription to the group in order to access the USA Dance LA Subgroup.

There is no cost involved in creating an account on this system.

To create a user account, please go to either:

Clicking on the "Register" or "Create New Account" link should bring you to the "Create new account" form. You should complete the required elements (indicated by a red star "*"), and then click on "Create new account" button when completed.

Request Subscription to USA Dance LA Subgroup

Registration Codes

On the "Create new account" form there will be a box underneath the selectable Groups. This box is labled: "Group registration code". If you were sent a registration code to use to register for access to the USA Dance LA Subgroup , enter it into this box. Entering the correct code here will allow you to bypass moderation and be directly added to the subgroup.

If you do NOT have a registration code for this group, you will need to check the box next to "Subscribe to USADance-LA. (approval needed)". By checking this box, you will submit a subscription request to the USA Dance LA Subgroup. Your subscription request will be reviewed by a group administrator and you will receive an email when it is approved.

When you click on "Create new account", assuming there are no problems, you should next see this screen:

If you entered a registration code, you should also see a link you can click to go directly to the USA Dance LA Subgroup.

Registration Email

At this point, your account has been created, but you have NOT been subscribed to the USA Dance LA Subgroup. Two items remain:

1. You will receive an email which contains your One-Time login link as well as your system-generated Password. You need to use the One-Time login link to log into the CentralAveDance website and create a permanent password. Here is the message you will receive:

   You may also log in by clicking on this link or copying and pasting it in your browser:

   This is a one-time login, so it can be used only once.

   After logging in, you will be redirected to http://www.centralavedance.com/user/161/edit so you can change your password.

   Your new Central Avenue Dance Ensemble membership also enables to you to login to other Drupal powered websites (e.g. http://drupal.org/) without registering. Just use the following Drupal ID and password:

2. If you entered a registration code, you are automatically subscribed to the USA Dance LA Subgroup when you log in. You can log in using the username and password you receive in this email.
3. If you did not enter a registration code, then the Site Administrator has to approve and add your new account to the USA Dance LA Subgroup. You should have the email address of the Site Administrator. Once your account is created, you need to email the Site Administrator and advise him of your new account username and let him know that you are a USA Dance LA Member.

When you receive the email with the "One-Time" login link, you should paste it into your browser. It will take you to this page:

Click on the "Login" button. You will be taken to the user account edit screen:

Once you click the "Submit" button here, you will be able to log into the site using your new password.

Once the Site Administrator has added you to the USA Dance LA Subgroup (or, you have entered a valid registration code) you will be able to access it, as a member, via this url:

If The One-Time Link Does Not Work

If the One-Time Link doesn't work, you can always log into the site using your username and system-generated password that are sent to you in the registration email (see above).

A dance host is someone who attends USA Dance-LA dances and dances with people, in particular people who don't look like they are dancing much. The idea is to make our dances as friendly and interesting and as fun for as many people as we can.

This year, we are asking for both dance hosts (Males) and dance hostesses (Female).

Dance host scheduling and communications are being handled online via the USA Dance LA Subgroup . To participate, you must create an online user account. There is no cost or other obligation involved in this. It simply provides for a more efficient means of organizing and coordinating these volunteer efforts moving forward.

As part of the account creation process, you will be able to request a subscription to the USA Dance LA Subgroup. If you already have an online account,  but are not a member of the USA Dance LA Subgroup, you will need to request a subscription to this group.

Once you have an online user account and are a member of the USA Dance LA Subgroup, you can use the Volunteer Timeslots event scheduling mechanism to volunteer for the timeslots for which you wish to volunteer as a dance host.

Here is the rundown on dance hosting.

• Be at the dance when it starts. You don't need to be at the lesson unless you'd like to.

• Check in at the door. Dance hosts get 50% off admission.*
  
  On the half price, there are some stipulations. Only dance hosts who RSVP and volunteer online by the week before the dance will be eligible for the discount. The discount is only offered to USA Dance members. As our rent has been raised, we do welcome full price admission from those who purely wish to volunteer.
• At the door you will get a lapel pin that lets people know you're a host.

• When the dance starts, please take the initiative and start asking NEW women and men to dance. You can spot them easily because they are a bit shy, usually standing at the edge of the dance floor waiting for someone to ask them or afraid to ask someone.

• Dance one or two dances with them and then go hunting again.

We're always up for promoting membership in USA Dance, but it's not necessary to sell at all. If you're up for talking about it, they can sign up for membership at the door.

In order to access the USA Dance LA Subgroup, you must have a user account and be a member of this group.

If you do NOT already have a user account

You will need to create a user account. As part of this process, you will see a "Groups" section on the "Create new account" form. In the "Groups" section of this form, you will see a checkbox next to "Subscribe to USADance-LA. (approval needed)". You will also see a box to enter a "Group registration code".

If you have been given a "Group registration code" for the USA Dance LA Subgroup, enter it into this box as part of completing the account creation form. If the code you enter is correct, you will automatically be subscribed to the USA Dance LA Subgroup when your account is created.

If you do NOT have a registration code, then place a check in the checkbox next to "Subscribe to USADance-LA. (approval needed)". A subscription request will be sent to the administrator of the USA Dance LA Subgroup. When you are identified as a member of USA Dance LA, your subscription will be approved.

If you DO already have a user account

You will need to log in with your user account and request a subscription to the USA Dance LA Subgroup. Once logged in, navigate to the site "Groups directory". This can be done by clicking on the "Groups" link in the main navigation menu, or the "Groups" link in the Central Ave Dance web site banner. Clicking on either one of these will take you to the "Groups directory".

If you have a Registration Code

One of the tabs you will see on the "Groups directory" will be titled "Enter registration code". If you have been given a registration code for the USA Dance LA Subgroup, click on this link.

In the "Enter registration code" window, you will see a box titled "Group registration code". Enter the code you have been given here, then click on the "Submit code" button. If the code you enter is valid, you will be automatically subscribed to the USA Dance LA Subgroup. You will receive a message indicating that you have been subscribed to the group, along with a link to to the group home page.

If you do NOT have a Registration Code

From the "Groups directory" page, click on USA Dance LA link to get to the group home page.

On the USA Dance LA Subgroup home page, you will see in the left column a link titled "Request subscription". Click on this link.

In the "Additional details" box, you should provide some evidence of your membership in USA Dance LA. Click on the "Subscribe" button to submit your request. At this point, your request will be submitted to an administrator for approval. You will be notified via email when your subscription request is approved.

When we have functions that require volunteers, it is possible, via the web site, register for the timeslots for which you wish to volunteer.

This is done using a mechnism called "Volunteer Timeslots". To utilize this tool you must:

1. Create a user account on the CentralAveDance web site.
2. Subscribe to the USA Dance LA Subgroup on this site.

To volunteer for timeslots, first log in and navigate to the event which contains the "Event volunteer schedule". You can do this from the USA Dance LA Subgroup Home Page:

You can list events from links on the right and left column group menus as well as the "Events" listing on the subgroup home page. The left column group menu titled "Group events" will indicate if a listed event has a volunteer schedule by flagging the event with the "volunteer_timeslots" tag.

Click on the event for which you wish to volunteer. You should see near the bottom of the "Event display" screen an "Event volunteer schedule":

The "Event volunteer schedule" will show you what the timeslots are which require volunteers. It will also show you what timeslots you have already voluteered for, as well as other users who have volunteered as well. Place a check in the box of the timeslot(s) for which you wish to volunteer.

When you have placed a check in the box of each timeslot for which you wish to volunteer, you must next click on the "Submit" button to register your volunteer timeslots.

Comments

If you wish to ask a question or make a comment on the event, you can do so by clicking on the "Add comment" link at the bottom of the event.

Cancel Volunteer Timeslot

If you wish to remove your name from a timeslot, simply uncheck the box for the timeslot for which you have volunteered.
